Al Jennings (1863-1961) was an American attorney, politician, and outlaw who became famous during the early 20th century. He grew up in Oklahoma Territory and later studied law in Indiana. After returning to Oklahoma, Jennings became involved in politics and was elected as a representative to the territorial legislature in 1900. However, he soon turned to a life of crime, joining a gang of train robbers in 1904.
Jennings was eventually captured and sentenced to prison, but he later became a reformed man and pursued a successful career as an attorney in California. He also became a public speaker and wrote several books, including his autobiography, "Beating Back: A Tale of the West."
Al Jennings was known for his charisma and his ability to tell a good story. He was often invited to speak at public events and was even featured in a few films during the silent era. Despite his criminal past, he became a respected member of his community and was known for his generosity and kindness.
